Be careful when planning an event that involves interpreting. Simultaneous interpretation does not affect the duration, whereas consecutive interpretation makes it twice as long.

The availability of preparatory materials for an interpreter is critical for any of these types of interpreting. If they are not available, interpretation turns into a complete improvisation with an unexpected result. If they are available, the interpreter studies the terminology in advance, the specific features of the topic to be discussed, and asks questions. Our interpreting team knows for sure that the best improvisation is the one prepared in advance. It would be good to have some time to listen to the speaker or speakers beforehand and communicate to them the importance of speaking much slower than usual and making pauses (otherwise, there is no time left for the interpreter). We repeat all this as a kind of mantra at each preparatory meeting before interpreting. We also do dry runs to make everything run like clockwork.

Comprehensiveness is important for interpreting. Finding an interpreter or two (if you are planning simultaneous translation) is not enough. It is also important to provide proper equipment, and, if you are holding online events, to ensure technical support. In a hybrid format, when some participants are online and some are offline, it is important to combine both options correctly, start a broadcast, organize the correct picture on the screens of remote speakers and do many other interesting and important things.

At Task Force we often provide oral translation services, offering interpreters for simultaneous and consequent work. We also offer to rent out equipment for events with foreign participants or speakers. If the events are held online, our technicians help to choose the proper platform for the event (taking into consideration the translation need), provide technical support during the online event and, if necessary, broadcast on various channels (Facebook, YouTube, etc).

We often encounter a situation that a customer, who is in search of an interpreter, does not understand the difference between simultaneous and consecutive translation. An interpreter who performs consecutive translation speaks after the speaker. Whereas a simultaneous interpreter speaks at the same time as a speaker, and listeners hear the translation in special headphones or by switching to a dedicated communications channel.

Oral translation is in quite high demand. Even in the midst of the pandemic events were quickly revived online, having set ambitious challenges for the translation industry. Until recently, simultaneous translation and online events were incompatible, whereas today 10+ platforms with varying functionality and different pricing policies offer the technical possibility to launch such translation.

Today, it seems that the ratio of online and offline interpretation has returned to pre-Covid times. We are happy to continue working at the crossroads of classical and new technologies, providing interpreting services during offline events for up to 1,000 guests. We were the ones to provide interpretation services for the tenth anniversary iForum in Ukraine. For large events, we offer not only additional points for the distribution and collection of equipment, but also special hostesses who assist the technician with this at different locations.

Task Force translation agency has brought together a team of experienced interpreters who not only specialize in translation, but also possess industry specialties and specialized education. We can easily provide translators-lawyers, pharmacists, engineers, marketers for your event. The Task Force team also includes interpreters with relatively rare specialties, such as chemistry and art history. The list of language pairs for interpretation that we work with is expanding constantly and currently includes not only the main Romance-Germanic languages, but also a number of Oriental languages.
